Annual Report 2020-21
The Forensicare Annual Report 2020-21 was recently tabled in Victorian Parliament. The annual report provides an overview of the financial, operational and strategic outcomes at Forensicare during the 2020-21 financial year. Australiasian Forensic Occupational Therapy Forum 2021
On World Occupational Therapy Day, Forensicare’s occupational therapy team are supporting the facilitation of a free online forensic occupational therapy forum. With the theme of “Transitions”, the forum will explore the role occupational therapists play in supporting consumers to transition to less restrictive environments.

Dr. Nina Papalia secures funding to understand impact of child maltreatment on future re-victimisation and offending.
Dr. Nina Papalia has been awarded a Discovery Early Career Research Award (DECRA) fellowship to examine the impact of experiences of abuse, neglect, and exposure to domestic violence in childhood on future criminal justice system involvement.

Creating pathways for students to forensic mental health
Forensicare has initiated the Allied Health Pre-Qualifiication Program to attract soon-to-be-qualified students to a career in forensic mental health. Soon we will welcome six final year universty students enrolled in social work, occupational therapy and psychology to our service.

CFBS awarded research grant to help identify patients at risk of self-harm
am at the Centre for Forensic Behavioural Science (CFBS) have been awarded a grant to commence a new research project to examine whether a risk assessment instrument – developed to help nurses identify patients at risk of imminent aggression – can be adapted to help identify people who may be at risk of deliberate self-harm.
